27 JAN : KATHUA: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at the Sports Stadium in Kathua, where Minister Satish Sharma unfurled the National Flag and took the salute during the ceremonial parade. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the national festival symbolises the unity, democratic values and developmental aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Republic Day समारोह witnessed the participation of civil and police contingents, school students and cultural troupes, who presented an impressive march-past and colourful performances reflecting India’s rich cultural diversity. The tricolour fluttered proudly as the parade paid homage to the Constitution of India and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and security forces for the nation.
In his address, Minister Satish Sharma emphasised that Republic Day is not just a celebration but a reminder of the collective responsibility to uphold constitutional values such as justice, equality and fraternity. He stated that Jammu and Kashmir is steadily progressing on the path of peace, development and inclusive growth, guided by the ideals enshrined in the Constitution.
Highlighting ongoing developmental initiatives, the Minister said that focused efforts are being made to strengthen infrastructure, improve public service delivery and create new opportunities for youth across the Union Territory. He added that the changing landscape of Jammu and Kashmir reflects renewed confidence and aspirations among the people, particularly the younger generation, who are actively contributing to nation-building.
The Minister also lauded the role of security forces, civil administration and frontline workers for maintaining peace and ensuring smooth conduct of Republic Day celebrations. He called upon citizens to work together in harmony and reaffirm their commitment to the nation’s progress and integrity.
The celebrations concluded with cultural programmes showcasing patriotic songs, folk dances and performances by students, drawing applause from the audience. The event at Kathua stood as a vibrant expression of national pride, unity and the collective resolve to build a prosperous and peaceful Jammu and Kashmir
