February 24, 2026: The 6th edition of the prestigious Khelo India Winter Games was formally inaugurated at the world-renowned ski destination of Gulmarg, marking a grand celebration of India’s growing winter sports culture and national unity.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the mega sporting event, describing it as a powerful symbol of the nation’s sporting legacy and collective spirit. The event has brought together athletes from across the country to compete in various winter sports disciplines amid the snow-clad landscapes of Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor expressed delight at hosting the 6th edition of the games in Gulmarg, one of Asia’s premier winter sports destinations. He emphasized that the Khelo India Winter Games not only promote athletic excellence but also foster unity and resilience among young sportspersons.
“This mega winter sports event is a celebration of our nation’s sporting legacy, its unity, and the transformative power of sports that binds every citizen and athlete, igniting their drive and forging unbreakable character,” he stated.
The event also witnessed the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Satish Sharma, who lauded the efforts to position Jammu and Kashmir as a hub for winter sports in India.
