MAY 06: In a significant step towards inclusive education and digital empowerment, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, handed over computers and printers to Government Girls High School Gandhi Nagar. This school has been actively supporting the education of rehabilitated street children under a district-level initiative.
The move aims to improve the quality of education being provided to children from underprivileged backgrounds by strengthening the school’s digital infrastructure. Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh also joined the event, underlining the administration’s collective commitment to uplifting marginalized communities.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Vaishya emphasized the importance of creating a conducive and encouraging learning environment for every child, particularly those from vulnerable groups. He stated that the provision of these digital tools would not only assist the teaching staff in delivering effective lessons but also help the students adapt to modern educational methods.
“Education is a powerful tool for transformation. We are committed to ensuring these children receive the same opportunities and exposure as any other student,” said the DC. He also highlighted the parallel efforts being made to counsel the families of these children, urging them to continue supporting their children’s academic journeys.
Currently, 83 rehabilitated street children are enrolled at Government Girls High School Gandhi Nagar. They attend regular classes alongside other students, promoting a sense of integration and belonging. The administration’s focus is on fostering a safe, supportive, and digitally equipped environment for these young learners to thrive.
The initiative is part of a broader mission to integrate marginalized children into mainstream education systems and empower them with the tools they need to succeed. The addition of computers and printers is expected to enhance digital literacy, provide access to online educational resources, and support administrative efficiency at the school.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the dedication of school authorities and assured continued support from the district administration. He also urged civil society and local communities to extend their cooperation in sustaining such noble efforts.
This initiative reflects the district’s ongoing resolve to bridge educational gaps and ensure no child is left behind in the journey toward knowledge and growth.
