JAMMU, May 7: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Jammu today executed proclamation against a Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda district as a step before attachment of his property.
The Hizbul Mujahideen militant identified as Mohammad Hussain Khateeb is wanted to the SIA in case First Information Report (FIR) No. 73/2023 in which former Minister Jatinder Singh alias Babu Singh is facing trial and is presently lodged at Central Jail in Kot Bhalwal Jammu.
Khateeb, a resident of Bhaderwah in Doda district is presently operating from Pakistan and has masterminded some of the terror acts which took place earlier in Doda and Kishtwar districts.
“The SIA is in the process of attaching property of Khateeb in Bhaderwah,” the sources said, adding the action is likely to be taken shortly.
In the meantime, the SIA today executed proclamation proceedings under Section 82 CrPC against Mohammad Hussain Khateeb by affixing posters of the absconding accused at his residence at Masjid Mohalla and other conspicuous places at Bhaderwah in Doda after getting the proclamation orders issued from the court.
Khateeb has been granted a period of 30 days by the court in its proclamation order to appear before it to face trail.
“If the accused fails to cause appearance before the court within the period of 30 days, proceedings under Section 83 CrPC shall be launched against him and his property will be attached,” the officials said.
This is one of the major actions of the SIA Jammu against the absconding accused in case FIR No. 73/2023 of Police Station Gandhi Nagar/SIA Jammu under Sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
