GDC Kishtwar organises awareness Seminar on “World No Tobacco Day”

KISHTWAR, MAY 31: An awareness seminar on “No Tobacco Day” was organized today in the Botany Department of Government Degree College Kishtwar on the direction of the College Principal, Dr. Jyoti Parihar.

 

As many as 60 students participated in the seminar to raise awareness about the harmful and deadly effect of tobacco on human health.

 

The theme of this year’s World No Tobacco Day, as declared by WHO, is “We need Food, not Tobacco.” The HoD of the Botany Department, Prof. Faisal Mushtaq also spoke about the ill effects and long-term consequences of this deadly product on health, society, environment and family.

 

Several students from the second semester spoke in great detail on the topic. Prof. Sushil Kumar explained various symptoms caused by long-term use of tobacco on the body.

 

A question/answer session was held at the end, during which the faculty provided detailed explanations to all the queries related to tobacco raised by the students. It was also pledged that everyone would strive hard to spread the message of the No Tobacco Campaign among the masses in general and other students in particular. The other staff members who participated in the event were Talat Samreen (Lab Assistant) and Daleep Kumar (Lab Bearer).
