APRIL 19: Reaffirming the Jammu Municipal Corporation’s (JMC) unwavering commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic urban environment, Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav praised the continuous efforts being made by officers, officials from various departments, and frontline sanitation workers. He emphasized that the entire JMC workforce is working diligently to ensure that the city remains neat and well-maintained, even in the face of challenging weather conditions.

Following the recent spell of heavy rainfall and storms, Dr. Yadav issued directives to assess and address the on-ground impact across various localities. Acting on these instructions, two dedicated teams were constituted under the supervision of the concerned Deputy Commissioners—Sanjay Badyal and Lal Chand. These teams also included Chief Transport Officers (CTOs) Dharamveer Singh and Talat Ahmad, Transport Officers (TOs), and enforcement staff.

The inspection teams were deployed across both the South and North Zones of Jammu, including key areas such as Gandhi Nagar, to evaluate the extent of debris, fallen trees, and other obstructions caused by the inclement weather. The response by the teams has been swift and effective.

Thanks to the proactive efforts of the CTO section and field staff, almost all major roads across the city have now been cleared of obstructions, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and public movement. While some scattered tree branches and small heaps of garbage still remain in isolated pockets, the sanitation teams and municipal machinery are already on-site, actively working to clear these remnants and restore complete cleanliness.

In addition to clearing the storm debris, the Commissioner highlighted the importance of manual sweeping and the removal of small refuse heaps that accumulate along footpaths and roadside areas. Sanitation workers have been persistently engaged in these tasks to uphold the standard of urban cleanliness.

Dr. Yadav commended the tireless and round-the-clock efforts of all the field workers, acknowledging their dedication in restoring normalcy across the city. He also appealed to the citizens of Jammu to support JMC’s initiatives by cooperating with sanitation teams and reporting any unattended or affected areas, enabling timely action.

The Jammu Municipal Corporation continues to stand firmly by its mission to protect public health, ensure cleanliness, and enhance the overall quality of life for the residents of the city.
