May 4: In a landmark digital reform, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to launch ECINET, a unified digital platform designed to streamline all electoral services for voters, election officials, political parties, and civil society stakeholders. The new app will consolidate over 40 existing ECI applications into a single interface, significantly enhancing usability and access.

Envisioned by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar during the March 2025 Conference of Chief Electoral Officers, ECINET aims to provide an intuitive User Interface (UI) and seamless User Experience (UX) while ensuring centralized, secure, and accurate electoral data management.

The app will replace widely used services like Voter Helpline, cVIGIL, Suvidha 2.0, Saksham, and more, which together have garnered over 5.5 crore downloads. This single-point platform is expected to benefit nearly 100 crore electors and over 70 lakh members of electoral machinery, including BLOs, Polling Officials, DEOs, and EROs.

ECINET will feature desktop and mobile accessibility, robust cybersecurity measures, and authenticated data entry by designated ECI officials. In cases of discrepancies, statutory form data will take precedence. The app is being built after in-depth consultations with officials across 36 States/UTs and a review of over 9,000 pages of electoral documentation.

Aligned with existing laws such as the Representation of People Acts (1950 & 1951) and Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, ECINET is poised to simplify electoral engagement and strengthen transparency in India’s democratic processes.
