MAY 08: The District Police Jammu has released a public advisory urging all residents to exercise caution while using social media and public communication platforms. The advisory highlights the growing concern over the unauthorized circulation of sensitive security-related content, including deployment details, operational movement visuals, and images of strategic locations.
The police have strictly instructed citizens of Jammu district not to upload, forward, or disseminate any such material on platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), or any other public communication channels. According to the advisory, posting such content can potentially compromise the safety and confidentiality of ongoing security operations.
“Such activities pose a significant risk to public safety and national security,” the statement emphasized. “Anyone found indulging in the circulation or sharing of sensitive information may face stern legal consequences under applicable laws.”
The advisory comes in the wake of increased digital activity where individuals, knowingly or unknowingly, share information that could aid anti-national elements or disrupt peace. The Jammu Police reiterated that even seemingly harmless posts or videos could provide critical intelligence to those with malicious intent.
The authorities further stated that these measures are not meant to restrict freedom of expression but to ensure collective security and the smooth execution of security protocols. They called for public cooperation during this sensitive time and appealed to residents to act as responsible digital citizens.
“Your responsible behavior can make a significant difference in safeguarding lives and maintaining peace. We urge all residents to be vigilant and avoid sharing any details that could hinder the effectiveness of security forces,” the advisory added.
District Police Jammu also encouraged citizens to report any suspicious or harmful content they come across on social media. A dedicated cyber team has been deployed to monitor digital platforms and take swift action against violators.
In conclusion, the police emphasized the importance of unity, awareness, and digital responsibility in upholding law and order. Public support, they said, remains the cornerstone of safe and successful security operations in the region.
