Javid Ahmad Dar Inspects Agriculture Infrastructure; Emphasizes Modern Farming Practices

MAY 18: In a significant step towards strengthening the agriculture sector, Minister Javid Ahmad Dar conducted an extensive visit to the Agriculture Farms located at Padgampora and Allowpora. The visit aimed to assess the ongoing developmental initiatives and review the performance of seed multiplication units functioning in the region.

During his visit, the Minister interacted with agricultural experts, field staff, and farmers to gain firsthand insights into the current progress of various schemes being implemented under the Department of Agriculture. He emphasized the importance of enhancing the capacity of these farms to produce high-quality seeds, which are essential for achieving improved crop productivity and ensuring food security.

Minister Dar highlighted the critical role that modern and scientific farming practices play in transforming the agricultural landscape of the region. He urged officials and field workers to adopt innovative techniques and technologies to not only increase the yield but also to make farming more sustainable and environment-friendly.

The Minister also laid special emphasis on strengthening the linkage between farmers and agriculture institutions. He said that empowering farmers with knowledge, timely support, and access to certified seeds and advanced tools would significantly boost their income and contribute towards self-reliant rural communities.

He appreciated the efforts being made by the department in setting up seed multiplication units and directed the concerned authorities to ensure proper monitoring and maintenance of these facilities. Stressing the importance of timely availability of quality seeds to the farming community, he called for scaling up the production capacities of these units and ensuring their efficient distribution.

During the tour, Minister Dar also took stock of the infrastructural requirements and directed officials to submit proposals for necessary upgrades to improve the functionality and outreach of the farms.

The visit reflects the government’s commitment to promoting agricultural self-sufficiency, improving rural livelihoods, and making Jammu & Kashmir a hub of modern, productive, and farmer-friendly agriculture.

The Minister assured that the administration will continue to support farmers through various schemes and reforms aimed at increasing productivity, profitability, and long-term sustainability in the agriculture sector.
