MAY 29: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha held an interactive session with members of the Kashmir Women’s Organisation at Raj Bhawan, where he applauded their role in empowering women and fostering inclusive growth in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Extending warm felicitations to the organisation, the Lieutenant Governor commended their commitment to promoting gender equality and strengthening the voice of women in society. He described women as the backbone of J&K’s socio-economic development, emphasizing their growing presence and impact across various sectors.
“Today, our daughters are scripting new history,” said LG Sinha during the interaction. “They are emerging as role models and breaking barriers in every field—from education and entrepreneurship to public service and science. Their achievements are a testimony to the transformative power of women in shaping a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Lieutenant Governor underlined that the Indian Constitution guarantees equal rights to women, and reiterated that the administration is fully committed to upholding these rights. He added that in recent years, focused efforts have been made through various government programmes to ensure that women, especially young girls, are provided with equal opportunities in key areas including education, entrepreneurship, and governance.
“Our objective is to create a future where daughters of Jammu and Kashmir can contribute meaningfully to the journey of Viksit Bharat and an Aatm-Nirbhar Jammu Kashmir,” LG Sinha said, referring to the national vision of a developed and self-reliant India.
The delegation from the Kashmir Women’s Organisation briefed the Lieutenant Governor on a series of initiatives they are undertaking to promote women’s leadership, enhance political participation, and encourage grassroots community engagement. They highlighted their work in rural areas, especially in mobilizing young women to take up roles in public life and community development.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed appreciation for their tireless efforts and conveyed his best wishes for their future endeavors. He assured the members of continued support from the administration in advancing the cause of gender equality and inclusive development.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to empowering women and building a stronger, more inclusive Jammu and Kashmir.
