June 21: In a spectacular fusion of wellness, engineering brilliance, and natural beauty, the District Administration of Reasi marked the International Day of Yoga with a unique yoga session atop the world’s highest railway bridge — the Chenab Rail Bridge. The celebration turned into a symbolic display of strength, harmony, and elevation, both physical and spiritual.

Set against the majestic backdrop of the Chenab Valley, the session drew participation from diverse quarters — including officials from the civil administration, Northern Railway, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), local residents, and passionate yoga practitioners. The gathering performed a series of yogic asanas and breathing exercises on the bridge, blending the age-old practice of yoga with the breathtaking grandeur of modern engineering.

The Chenab Rail Bridge, an architectural wonder rising 359 meters above the riverbed, offered not just a platform for yoga but a powerful metaphor — uniting mind, body, and the soul with the strength and resilience reflected in the towering steel structure. Participants expressed joy and pride in being part of this extraordinary celebration that brought global attention to the region’s cultural and strategic significance.

Officials highlighted how such innovative events promote yoga as a holistic lifestyle while also spotlighting the tourism and engineering landmarks of Jammu and Kashmir. The event was also a tribute to India’s ability to merge ancient traditions with modern progress, with the Chenab Bridge — a symbol of national pride — serving as the perfect venue.

The celebration aimed to inspire people across the country and the globe to adopt yoga as a daily practice while appreciating India’s growing infrastructure and natural splendour. This harmonious blend of movement and monument served as a reminder of the nation’s journey toward physical well-being and developmental excellence.
