JUNE 22: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya led the “Fit India Sundays on Cycle” initiative in New Delhi today, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in partnership with Yogasana Bharat. The event, held a day after International Yoga Day, witnessed wide participation from celebrities, athletes, and citizens, reinforcing the message of a fitter, healthier India.
Dr. Mandaviya stated, “Even a single pedal forward on a cycle is a step toward making India a fitness powerhouse. From yoga yesterday, cycling today, to Olympic Day tomorrow—this is a true fitness revolution.”
Olympic racewalker Priyanka Goswami, former Indian women’s hockey captain Rani Rampal, taekwondo champion Rodali Barua, and actress-turned-Fit India icon Mia Maelzer were present at the event, boosting morale and engagement. Actress Madhurima Tuli also participated, promoting youth involvement in fitness activities.
At a parallel event in Pandharpur, Maharashtra, Minister of State Smt. A total of 90 cycling clubs participated in the Maharashtra edition of the rally.
Mia Maelzer expressed heartfelt joy in contributing to the cause. “Cycling today felt like flying. It’s fitness, it’s fun, and it’s an answer to climate change too,” she said.
Priyanka Goswami added, “Fitness ki dose, aadha ghanta roz”—we must all live by this mantra, whether in cities or villages.
Rani Rampal highlighted the value of such movements, calling them life-changing for young people. “Cycling isn’t just a way to travel—it’s a lifestyle that inspires others,” she remarked.
Rodali Barua connected the initiative to India’s Olympic goals, saying, “With PM Modi’s 2036 Olympic vision, initiatives like this empower every athlete and health-conscious citizen.”
