JULY 22: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has lauded the UPSC’s innovative “PRATIBHA Setu” initiative, calling it a forward-thinking and inclusive solution for leveraging the talent pool of Civil Services aspirants who narrowly miss final selection. Launched to address the growing demand for highly skilled candidates who have cleared both the written examination and interview stages of the UPSC but didn’t make it to the final merit list, this platform is being seen as a powerful bridge to alternate career opportunities.
“PRATIBHA” stands for Professional Resource And Talent Integration, while “Setu” signifies a bridge—symbolizing the connection between opportunity and potential. Dr. Singh’s remarks came following a detailed briefing by the new UPSC Chairman, Dr. Ajay Kumar, who shared updates on how the initiative has been gaining significant traction among private and public sector employers.
According to Dr. Kumar, as many as 113 organizations have already been onboarded to the platform, with many more expressing keen interest. Unlike earlier models where candidate data was passively published online, PRATIBHA Setu creates a secure, interactive portal where verified employers can directly connect with willing candidates. This shift not only adds transparency but streamlines recruitment processes for both job seekers and recruiters.
The initiative traces its roots back to the Public Disclosure Scheme introduced in 2018 but has now been reimagined into a comprehensive, user-friendly recruitment interface. It offers a win-win solution—providing deserving candidates an alternate route to meaningful careers and giving employers access to a pool of candidates who have already undergone rigorous screening through UPSC’s examinations.
The scope of PRATIBHA Setu covers various high-caliber exams, including the Civil Services, Indian Forest Service, Engineering Services, and Combined Medical Services. However, it excludes exams like NDA, NA, and certain departmental tests. Its emphasis on ethical talent-sharing and strict verification of recruiting organizations makes it a trusted channel for employers.
As UPSC approaches its 100th anniversary in 2026, platforms like PRATIBHA Setu reflect the Commission’s evolving vision. Dr. Singh emphasized that by bridging the gap between assessed talent and employment opportunities, the initiative not only supports individual growth but also contributes to a more efficient, inclusive, and transparent national recruitment ecosystem.
