AUG 15: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Shri Manoj Sinha hoisted and saluted the National Flag at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar today to mark the 79th Independence Day. Extending his warm greetings and good wishes to all citizens, the Lieutenant Governor described the historic occasion as a moment of pride and a reminder of the sacrifices made for the nation’s freedom.
Paying rich tributes to freedom fighters, he also honoured the brave personnel of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) for their courage and sacrifice in securing peace and protecting national sovereignty. He further paid homage to the civilians who tragically lost their lives due to the recent cloudburst in Chashoti area of Kishtwar district.
Addressing the people after the flag hoisting, the Lieutenant Governor called upon every citizen to take a solemn pledge to leave no individual or village behind in the journey towards peace, development and prosperity. “As we watch the Tricolour flying high, we must look ahead with pride, confidence and hope for a better and brighter future for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.
In a post shared on X, Shri Manoj Sinha expressed solidarity with the families affected by the cloudburst and assured that relief operations were being carried out on war footing. He also saluted the armed forces, intelligence agencies and police personnel for their bravery during ‘Operation Sindoor’ and ‘Operation Mahadev’.
Reaffirming the resolve to eliminate terrorism from the region, he said that society’s collective effort combined with the commitment of security forces will ensure a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir. The Lieutenant Governor further appealed to the youth, farmers and women to contribute to building a self-reliant and prosperous future for the Union Territory and to work together for social transformation and rural development.
