JULY 29:Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), has embarked on a four-day official visit to Japan from 30 July to 02 August 2025. This high-level engagement aims to strengthen the India-Japan defence relationship, particularly in the maritime domain, under the framework of the Special Strategic and Global Partnership.

During the visit, Admiral Tripathi will hold bilateral talks with senior Japanese government and military leaders. These include meetings with Mr. NAKATANI Gen, Minister of Defense, Mr. MASUDA Kazuo, Vice-Minister of Defense, and Admiral SAITO Akira, Chief of Staff, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF).

The agenda will focus on advancing maritime security cooperation, exploring technological collaboration, and enhancing naval interoperability. These discussions are expected to reinforce shared commitments to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

As part of his engagements, Admiral Tripathi will also visit JMSDF units, including a strategic interaction with the Commander-in-Chief of the Self Defense Fleet at Funakoshi JMSDF Base. These visits are designed to provide deeper insights into Japan’s naval infrastructure and capabilities.

The Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi Japan visit is expected to elevate the existing defence partnership to new heights. It reflects both nations’ shared values of democracy, maritime trust, and mutual respect. With regional security becoming increasingly complex, the visit reaffirms India’s commitment to working with like-minded partners to promote stability in the Indo-Pacific.

This official tour serves as a timely and strategic gesture toward enhancing naval diplomacy, reinforcing mutual interests, and expanding defence industry cooperation.
