Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 63 development projects worth approximately Rs 1,475 crore in Uttarakhand, marking the state’s 26th Foundation Day celebrations.
The programme was organised at Parade Ground in Dehradun and witnessed the participation of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, senior government officials and a large gathering of people from different parts of the state.
The projects are aimed at strengthening infrastructure and improving public facilities across Uttarakhand. The initiatives are expected to contribute to development in areas including road connectivity, public infrastructure and facilities in different parts of the state.
Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah recalled the contribution of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in fulfilling the long-standing demand for a separate Uttarakhand state. He noted that Uttarakhand was granted statehood on November 9, 2000, following years of public demand and a sustained movement for a separate state.
Shah also spoke about the development initiatives being undertaken in Uttarakhand under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. He highlighted the Central Government’s efforts to improve road connectivity, particularly in strategically important border areas.
Emphasising the importance of infrastructure development, the Home Minister said improved connectivity in border regions remains an important priority for the government.
