Ayush Ministry Gears Up for International Day of Yoga 2025 Celebrations

May 8: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, chaired a high-level review meeting, in New Delhi to assess the preparations for the upcoming International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, scheduled to be celebrated worldwide on June 21, 2025.

The Minister underscored the Government’s commitment to making IDY 2025 a landmark global event, reflecting India’s leadership in promoting holistic health and wellness through yoga. He called for renewed efforts from all stakeholders to make this year’s celebration not only grand in scale but also deeply impactful across the globe.

“We will work with utmost sincerity and commitment to ensure that International Day of Yoga 2025 is not only a grand success but also a source of inspiration for the entire world,” Shri Jadhav said while addressing officials at the meeting. He encouraged a spirit of collaboration and purpose, emphasizing that the celebrations should echo the theme of ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’.

The Minister urged for expanded outreach efforts, aiming to spread the message of yoga to every corner of the country and all parts of the world. The meeting involved senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush, who presented updates on various initiatives and implementation strategies aimed at maximizing participation and visibility.

Key flagship initiatives reviewed during the session included:

  • Yoga Sangam: Integration of yoga practices into schools, hospitals, and corporate sectors to promote institutional wellness.

  • Harit Yoga: A campaign linking yoga with environmental responsibility through tree plantation drives and green awareness.

  • Yoga Connect: A global outreach program aimed at engaging international communities and the Indian diaspora in the IDY celebrations.

  • Yoga Bandhan: An initiative fostering social unity and wellness through large-scale, inclusive yoga events.

Shri Jadhav also highlighted the importance of involving youth, students, educational institutions, and community leaders in the run-up to the event to ensure widespread grassroots engagement.

Since its inception by the United Nations in 2015 following a proposal by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the International Day of Yoga has grown into a global movement that promotes health, mindfulness, and harmony.
