APRIL 15: Bengaluru-based startup QpiAI, one of the eight startups selected under India’s prestigious National Quantum Mission (NQM), announced the successful launch of one of India’s most powerful quantum computers, featuring 25 superconducting qubits. The announcement was made , marking World Quantum Day — a global celebration of quantum science and its transformative potential.
Coordinated by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the National Quantum Mission aims to propel India into the global forefront of quantum innovation. QpiAI’s achievement is a significant milestone in this journey, further establishing India’s presence in the quantum technology landscape.
The newly launched quantum system, named QpiAI-Indus, is India’s first full-stack quantum computing system. It combines advanced quantum hardware, scalable quantum control systems, and optimized software that together enable transformative hybrid computing. QpiAI-Indus seamlessly integrates next-generation quantum processors, Quantum-HPC (High-Performance Computing) software platforms, and AI-enhanced quantum solutions, positioning itself as a comprehensive solution for real-world quantum applications.
This technological breakthrough paves the way for rapid advances across a wide range of industries, including life sciences, drug discovery, material sciences, mobility, logistics, sustainability, and climate action. With such high-impact applications, QpiAI is driving deep-tech innovation and accelerating India’s quantum readiness.
Established in 2019, QpiAI has grown significantly over the past few years. The company has filed 11 patent applications and currently generates an annual revenue of approximately Rs 1 million. It has also secured funding support from the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), further underscoring confidence in its technological capabilities and long-term potential.
QpiAI plays a critical role in building India’s indigenous quantum computing ecosystem. As a key player in the NQM, it is also contributing to national quantum adoption programs and nurturing one of the world’s largest pools of quantum-skilled professionals. Their mission is clear: to make quantum computing practical, accessible, and globally impactful.
