NOV 11: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan described Operation Sindoor as a striking demonstration of modern warfare, where precision strikes, network-centric operations, digitised intelligence, and multi-domain tactics were successfully executed within a limited timeframe. Speaking at the Delhi Defence Dialogue 2025 on the theme “Impact of Technology on Modern Warfare”, General Chauhan underscored that technological superiority has become the defining factor for success on the battlefield.
He noted that while warfare remains about achieving victory, the nations that lead in technology will dominate future conflicts. The CDS highlighted how emerging technologies, evolving doctrines, and dynamic geopolitical shifts are transforming modern combat and driving strategic innovation within the Indian Armed Forces.
The two-day dialogue, organised by the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), was inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The event focuses on the theme “Harnessing New Age Technology for Defence Capability Development.”
In his address, MP-IDSA Director General Ambassador Sujan Chinoy emphasised that the conference coincides with the Institute’s 60th Foundation Day, marking six decades of contribution to strategic research. He noted that global militaries are transitioning from the industrial to the information and cyber era, where technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and quantum sciences are redefining security paradigms.
Chinoy stressed the importance of balancing foreign technology acquisition with indigenous defence manufacturing, aligning with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision. The Delhi Defence Dialogue brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and academia to explore how emerging technologies can strengthen data-driven defence systems and enhance India’s technological edge in warfare.
