MAY 13: In a solemn gesture of respect and grief, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha paid heartfelt tribute to BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham, who succumbed to injuries sustained in unprovoked cross-border firing by Pakistani forces on May 10, 2025, along the International Boundary in R.S. Pura, Jammu.

Constable Deepak Chingakham, a dedicated and valiant member of the Border Security Force (BSF), was critically injured in the attack and breathed his last on May 11, leaving behind a legacy of service, bravery, and sacrifice.

Expressing his condolences on social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor wrote:
“I salute the brave son of Mother India, BSF’s Constable Deepak Chingakham, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. We share the grief of the family and stand in solidarity.”

The tribute has been widely shared across digital platforms, with citizens and leaders alike mourning the loss and acknowledging the young soldier’s sacrifice.

Officials from the BSF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and local administration participated in the wreath-laying ceremony, held with full military honors. A moment of silence was observed, and prayers were offered for the departed soul.

Constable Chingakham hailed from Manipur and had been serving in the border regions of Jammu with unwavering commitment. His loss has not only impacted his family and colleagues but has also struck a chord across the nation, especially in the wake of increased ceasefire violations despite bilateral agreements.

Lieutenant Governor Sinha reiterated the administration’s unwavering support to the bereaved family. He assured that all due honors and compensatory measures would be extended, including ex-gratia support and employment assistance to next of kin.

Speaking to media personnel, LG Sinha remarked, “The courage shown by our jawans at the border is the backbone of our national security. Constable Chingakham’s sacrifice will not be forgotten.”

As border tensions persist, such incidents are grim reminders of the price paid by the brave men and women in uniform who protect the sovereignty of the nation. The memory of Constable Deepak Chingakham will remain etched in the hearts of a grateful nation.
