BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 07: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Monday kick-started the District level Orientation cum Training programme on holistic development of the agriculture sector in the district.
The program is being organised by the Department of Agriculture and it is the first of its kind program on development of Fodder resources for UT of Jammu and Kashmir at district level in Bandipora.
The aim of the project is to transform subsistence agriculture into sustainable commercial Agri-economy, create agri-business ecosystems with inbuilt functional value chain and adopt farmer and community centric approach for holistic development of Agriculture. The programme will continue till 10th April 2023.
Speaking on the occasion, DC laid stress on implementation of the 29 projects cleared by the apex committee for the overall development of the agriculture sector to increase the yield and farmers income, in true spirit.
He said this is the first time an integrated approach in Agricultural development is taken where all departments will work in coordination to achieve the targets of these 29 projects.
Dr Owais said the awareness and advice to the farmers will be key in successful implementation of these projects. He also directed the staff to keep themselves updated and additional knowledge about schemes and economic models of dairy/poultry farming and advance technologies like hydroponics matters so that they can encourage the farmers regarding the benefits and profits of modern technologies and schemes.
On the occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora highlighted the importance of these projects for development of the Agriculture sector in the district.
During the training programme, four power point presentation were delivered by Dr Tariq Sultan Programme Coordinator KVK Bandipora, Dr Bilal Ahmad Bhat Incharge Head KVK Bandipora, Dr. Shahid Ahmad Mir VAS Bandipora and Mr. Abdul Majeed Lone District SMS Agriculture Bandipora.
The programme was attended by District Programme officer Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, JDP Bandipora Imtiyaz Ali, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Course Coordinator KVK Bandipora/Gurez, District Level SMS, Incharge KVK Bandipora besides Officers and Technical staff of Agriculture and allied departments.
