Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar Appointed Director Health Services Jammu After Distinguished Service

APRIL 1: Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar today assumed the charge of Director Health Services (DHS) Jammu, marking a new chapter in his long and distinguished career in the healthcare sector. Upon taking charge, Dr. Zargar was given a warm welcome by the staff of the Directorate of Health Services Jammu, reflecting the admiration and respect he has earned over the years within the department.

Dr. Zargar has been a prominent figure in the healthcare system of Jammu and Kashmir for the past 15 years, contributing significantly to the development and improvement of healthcare services across the region. His extensive experience in various administrative roles within the health department has played a key role in shaping his career and equipping him with the skills needed to manage the challenges of a diverse and complex healthcare system.

Over the years, Dr. Zargar has served in various pivotal administrative capacities, starting as the Block Medical Officer from 2011 to 2021, where he was responsible for managing health services at the grassroots level. His leadership during this period helped enhance the delivery of essential healthcare services in rural areas. Dr. Zargar then went on to serve as the Medical Superintendent (MS) of District Hospital Ramban from 2021 to 2022, where he worked towards improving the infrastructure and services in the hospital, ensuring better care for patients.

In 2022, Dr. Zargar was appointed as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Rajouri, a role he held until 2023. During his tenure, he focused on improving health services in the district and took several steps to streamline operations and enhance the delivery of medical care. Following his successful stint in Rajouri, Dr. Zargar served as the Chief Medical Officer of Doda in 2023-24, where he continued to contribute to the enhancement of healthcare services in the region.

Dr. Zargar was also appointed as the Medical Superintendent at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar from 2024 to March 2025, where he demonstrated strong leadership and management skills in improving the hospital’s functioning. His work in various capacities has earned him a reputation for his commitment to public health and his ability to navigate the challenges of managing healthcare facilities.

Today, Dr. Zargar takes on the additional responsibility of Deputy Director HQ, with the charge of Director Health Services Jammu. His wealth of experience and proven leadership in the healthcare sector are expected to bring about positive changes and further improvements in the region’s healthcare system.
