MARCH 12:The Traffic Police have issued a detailed advisory for commuters in Jammu following the commencement of construction work for a flyover between Satwari Chowk and Last Morh Gandhi Nagar, which began on March 11, 2025. The advisory includes a series of traffic diversions to ensure smooth traffic flow during the construction period.
According to the Project Director of NHAI, PIU-Jammu, the construction of the flyover will be managed by the concerned executing agency. The tube coming from Satwari Chowk towards Last Morh Gandhi Nagar will remain restricted for general traffic movement during the ongoing work. To mitigate congestion and provide hassle-free movement, traffic diversions have been carefully planned and implemented.
The traffic diversion plan includes specific routes for vehicles coming from various directions. Interstate vehicles traveling from Samba and Kathua via Kunjwani and Gangyal bound for Jammu City will be diverted from Satwari Chowk. These vehicles will take a detour towards MH Hospital Road, then Beli Charana, followed by the 4th Tawi Bridge, Asia Crossing, and Canal Head, before continuing to their destinations.
Similarly, vehicles coming from R.S Pura, Miran Sahib, and other adjoining areas, which are also bound for Jammu City, will follow the same diversion route. They will be diverted from Satwari Chowk towards MH Hospital Road, Beli Charana, 4th Tawi Bridge, Asia Crossing, Canal Head, and onward to their respective destinations.
For the stretch of road between Bikram Chowk and Satwari Chowk, traffic will continue in a one-way direction. However, traffic coming from Last Morh Gandhi Nagar will be diverted to the right tube towards Satwari Chowk. This diversion is implemented to ensure smoother movement of vehicles while construction activities are underway.
Additionally, vehicles coming from the 4th Tawi Bridge bound for the Satwari side will not be allowed to take the Beli Charana route. Instead, they will be diverted via the Ware House, Asia Crossing, Last Morh Gandhi Nagar, and then towards Satwari Chowk.
The Traffic Police have emphasized the importance of these diversions in maintaining traffic discipline and avoiding congestion. The general public is kindly requested to cooperate with the District Administration and Police to ensure effective traffic management during this construction period.
Authorities have assured that these measures are necessary to minimize disruptions and allow the flyover project to progress smoothly. The public’s understanding and support are crucial in maintaining the flow of traffic and ensuring safety during this phase of construction.
