JUNE 09: As part of the ongoing POSHAN Abhiyaan, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road, Transport & Highways, Shri Harsh Malhotra, distributed approximately 500 nutrition kits to beneficiaries at Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalya in Krishna Nagar, Delhi. The event highlighted the government’s sustained commitment to combatting malnutrition and promoting a healthier India.
The event was also attended by Krishna Nagar MLA Dr. Anil Goel and local councillors Shri Sandeep Kapoor (Krishna Nagar Ward), Shri Raju Sachdeva (Jagatpuri Ward), and Smt Meenakshi Sharma (Anarkali Ward), who joined the effort to support the national nutrition mission.
During his address, Shri Malhotra underlined that POSHAN Abhiyaan represents the Modi Government’s unwavering dedication to addressing India’s nutrition challenges, especially among vulnerable groups like children, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. He noted that the initiative has become a people’s movement or Jan Andolan, fostering widespread awareness and positive behavioural changes in nutrition and healthcare practices.
Highlighting the success of the Poshan Tracker App, the Minister praised its role in ensuring real-time monitoring of nutrition services, which enables timely interventions and data-driven policy implementation. This technology-driven approach has enhanced the programme’s effectiveness, ensuring transparency and accountability in delivering essential services.
Shri Malhotra stressed the importance of inter-sectoral cooperation, community participation, and the promotion of dietary diversity, all of which are key pillars of the mission. He particularly emphasized the critical need for providing adequate nutrition to pregnant women and nursing mothers, noting that maternal nutrition is vital for the health of both mother and child. Proper maternal care can significantly reduce complications during childbirth and contribute to improved child development outcomes.
He encouraged citizens to prioritize nutrition in their daily lives and adopt healthy eating habits. “Let’s make a collective effort to promote nutrition and make a positive impact on our lives and the lives of those around us,” he urged.
Concluding his remarks, the Minister said that through initiatives like POSHAN Abhiyaan, India can build a stronger, healthier, and more productive society, paving the way for a truly developed nation — Viksit Bharat.
