GDC Surankote celebrates Int’l Biodiversity Day-2023

POONCH, MAY 22: Department of Biosciences, Government Degree College Surankote, in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) today celebrated ‘International Biodiversity Day’ 2023. The theme for International Day for Biological Diversity 2023 is “From Agreement to Action: Build Back Biodiversity.”

 

The College Principal Prof (Dr) Rani Mughal kick-started the event by flagging off the students of the college on a field trip to the Botanical Garden of the Higher Education Department at Shidehara, Poonch.

 

An open painting competition, under the banner of IIC (self-driven activity of calendar for the 3rd quarter of 2022-23), was also held at the venue with a theme of “Innovative solutions for conserving Biodiversity”. The main aim is to raise awareness among students about the importance of biodiversity conservation.

 

Dr. Rani Mughal, in her short speech, highlighted the importance of conservation of biodiversity and the role of the students in conserving the biodiversity. Dr. Mughal in her speech emphasized that students must proactively participate in such programmes. She motivated the students to act as ambassadors to spread the message of biodiversity conservation to all. She appreciated the Department of Biosciences and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of the college for organizing this programme.
