MAY 19: Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, today announced the launch of a nationwide agricultural campaign titled ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’, set to begin on May 29 and continue through June 12, 2025. The announcement was made during a press conference at the National Media Centre in New Delhi.

Addressing the media, Shri Chouhan emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the government is committed to building a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). He stressed that developed agriculture, advanced farming techniques, and empowered farmers are crucial pillars for achieving this vision.

The “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” is an initiative aimed at bridging the gap between research institutions and farmers. Through this campaign, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, in collaboration with ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), will ensure that the latest advancements in agricultural research, science, and technology are directly shared with farmers on the ground. This aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of “Lab to Land”, which seeks to bring innovation and scientific knowledge to the grassroots level.

The campaign will be organized annually ahead of both Kharif and Rabi sowing seasons, making it a regular and strategic effort to empower farmers with knowledge before planting begins. Activities during the campaign will include demonstrations, training programs, awareness drives, and interactive sessions between scientists and farmers.

Shri Chouhan reiterated that the agricultural sector, which sustains nearly half of India’s population, continues to be the backbone of the Indian economy. Strengthening this sector through knowledge-sharing, sustainable practices, and innovation is essential for national growth and food security.

The “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” stands as a significant step in transforming Indian agriculture, ensuring that every farmer is equipped to contribute to and benefit from the journey toward a developed and self-reliant India.
