DODA, MAY 09: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan, the health department organized a series of health awareness and medical checkup camps in the higher reaches of the District Doda to reach out to the nomadic people residing there with no access to the Medicare facilities .
The camps were held under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ab Hamid Zargar and guidance of respective BMOs.
“The department organised special health screening/checkup camps for the nomadic population living in high altitude meadows and struggling with their health issues with no access to health care,” the CMO informed.
During the camps, free medicines were also distributed among the nomads by the health teams.
Meanwhile, the DC has asked the health department to conduct such health camps in different areas on regular intervals to provide healthcare at the doorstep of the nomads. The nomadic community appreciated the efforts of the District Administration and Health Department for such a people friendly health initiative.
