JUNE 03: A group of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, recently inducted from various State Civil Services and currently undergoing the 127th Induction Training Programme at LBSNAA, called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
Addressing the officers, the President acknowledged their previous contributions at the state level, highlighting that their roles so far have been centered on state-specific goals and grassroots development. She emphasized that while their responsibilities toward the welfare of local communities will continue, their new roles as IAS officers come with expanded scope, national-level accountability, and greater complexity.
President Murmu encouraged the officers to align their work with the broader national vision of “Viksit Bharat by 2047”, stressing that India’s progress must be inclusive and holistic. “Your efforts should aim to uplift the poor and marginalized. Only when every citizen—especially those left behind—experiences growth and prosperity, can we truly call ourselves a developed nation,” she said.
She also underlined the transformative potential of technology and innovation in governance. Urging the officers to embrace tools like AI, e-governance systems, and digital feedback mechanisms, the President said these advances could ensure better service delivery, data-driven decision-making, and transparency. Such tools, she noted, are essential to build efficient, responsive, and citizen-centric administrative frameworks.
However, she cautioned that while embracing innovation, officers must remain grounded in the core values of the Indian Administrative Service. “Your authority must be exercised with empathy, fairness, and integrity,” she stated. Transparency, accountability, and ethical governance, she added, must always remain at the heart of public service.
The President concluded by expressing her confidence in the officers’ potential to drive positive change. She called on them to become enablers of equity, growth, and social justice across India, reflecting the spirit of cooperative and inclusive governance.
The induction programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) plays a key role in transitioning state civil service officers into their new national responsibilities, equipping them to meet the challenges of a rapidly transforming India.
