NOV 01: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today chaired a meeting to finalize arrangements for the launch of subsidised helicopter services to various hilly and snowbound districts of Jammu Division, set to commence from November 2, 2025.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, and Rajouri, along with the Director Tourism, representatives from the Civil Aviation Department, J&K, and the Airport Authority of India (AAI), Jammu.
The Divisional Commissioner emphasized ensuring smooth operational readiness, directing the Deputy Commissioners to appoint Nodal Officers for handling ticket bookings and maintaining proper arrangements at all helipads. These include ticket counters, cleanliness, and security measures to facilitate safe and comfortable travel.
The subsidised heli routes will connect Jammu with Poonch, Mendhar, Rajouri, Doda, and Kishtwar, including intra-district services within Kishtwar. The initiative aims to enhance accessibility to remote regions, particularly during harsh winter months when road connectivity remains affected.
Ramesh Kumar further instructed the Tourism Department to publish detailed, district-wise and route-wise fare lists for public information. Deputy Commissioners were also directed to widely publicize the schedule and availability of these services to ensure maximum outreach.
The AAI representative was asked to make necessary arrangements at Jammu Airport, including dedicated ticket counters and space management for helicopter operations.
The Divisional Commissioner reiterated that the subsidised heli service reflects the government’s commitment to improving regional connectivity and facilitating essential travel for residents of far-flung areas during the winter season.
