Host City Activation Blends Sport, Culture and Scenic Beauty at Dal Lake

AUG 17:The Host City activation of the much-awaited Khelo India Water Sports Festival 2025 got underway in Srinagar with a colourful and energetic gymnastics showcase at the Royal Springs Golf Course. Located on the serene banks of the Dal Lake and nestled at the foothills of the Zabarwan Mountain Range, the event created a stunning visual blend of athletic excellence, cultural celebration, and Kashmir’s pristine natural beauty.

The launch ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from young gymnasts who put up an impressive display of flexibility, strength and synchronised movements, drawing loud applause from the audience. The picturesque setting further elevated the atmosphere, as visitors and sports enthusiasts soaked in the beauty of the location while experiencing the excitement of the inaugural performance.

Officials from the Sports Authority of India and Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council were present at the event, expressing satisfaction over the successful start to the Host City celebration. They remarked that the activation is aimed at building enthusiasm among people in the Valley and promoting Kashmir as a premier destination for national and international sporting events.

The Host City activation will be followed by a series of sports and cultural activities leading up to the main Water Sports Festival, which will include competitions in rowing, kayaking, canoeing and other aquatic disciplines. Local athletes and school students are also expected to participate in various engagement activities throughout the coming days.

By combining sport, culture and natural splendour, the event not only marked the official start of the Khelo India Water Sports Festival 2025 preparations but also showcased Kashmir’s potential as a vibrant sporting hub and tourist destination.
