MAY 07: In a significant step toward enhancing maritime diplomacy and regional cooperation, Indian Naval Ship INS Kiltan has arrived in Singapore to participate in the International Maritime Defence Exhibition (IMDEX) Asia 2025, being held at the Changi Exhibition Centre.
The visit forms a part of the Indian Navy’s ongoing operational deployment in the Indo-Pacific region and reflects the deep-rooted maritime partnership between India and Singapore. This deployment is aimed at demonstrating India’s commitment to ensuring peace, security, and stability in the region, especially through meaningful naval collaborations.
During its stay in Singapore, the crew of INS Kiltan will actively participate in a range of bilateral and multilateral engagements. These include professional exchanges with personnel from the Republic of Singapore Navy and other international naval forces attending IMDEX Asia 2025. Such exchanges are intended to enhance mutual understanding, improve interoperability, and strengthen naval cooperation with friendly nations.
Beyond professional interactions, the Indian Navy has planned several community outreach and public engagement activities. These include guided ship tours for school children, cross-deck visits with sailors from other participating navies, and curated visits for representatives of defence industries. These events are designed to foster greater public awareness of maritime security issues, while also showcasing India’s rich naval heritage and technological advancements.
The Indian Navy’s participation at IMDEX Asia is not only a demonstration of its technological prowess and operational readiness, but also an assertion of India’s strategic intent to play a proactive role in Indo-Pacific maritime affairs.
INS Kiltan’s presence in Singapore further reaffirms the strong and evolving defence relationship between India and Singapore, rooted in shared values of freedom of navigation, maritime cooperation, and regional peace.
