Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) organized a Public Samvaad today at Marble Market in Trikuta Nagar, aimed at encouraging citizen participation in the city’s development. The event served as a platform for residents to directly engage with the authorities and voice their concerns, ideas, and suggestions, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility for the city’s growth.
The Public Samvaad, which focused on urban development and civic issues, was attended by several prominent figures, including MLA Jammu South, S. Narinder Singh Raina, MLA Bahu, Vikram Singh Randhawa, and JMC Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav. They actively interacted with the public, addressing their grievances and listening to suggestions. Several notable citizens, including former Deputy Mayor of Jammu, Baldev Singh Billowria, ex-Corporators, Swachhata Champions, Ambassadors, and members of the civil society, participated in the interactive session.
The discussions covered a range of critical issues, primarily focusing on urban development challenges and civic amenities. Among the key topics discussed were the restructuring of nallas (drainage channels) to prevent waterlogging during the rainy season, preparation of Ward Development Work Plans, drainage systems, street lighting augmentation, maintenance of public roads and parks, and resolving water supply issues. The session also highlighted the need to enhance essential urban infrastructure and services to meet the growing demands of the city’s population.
Dr. Devansh Yadav, the Commissioner of JMC, emphasized the importance of public feedback, underscoring that citizen input plays a crucial role in the formulation of development plans and budgetary provisions. He assured attendees that issues of public importance, such as drainage systems, lane drains, and sanitation, would be prioritized for immediate action. He further noted that the government would ensure that the upcoming budget for 2025 would account for the necessary provisions to address the challenges raised by the public.
The event was a testament to the JMC’s commitment to collaborative governance, allowing citizens to play an active role in shaping their city’s future.
