MARCH 21: Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Chairman of Jammu Smart City Ltd, Ramesh Kumar, conducted a review meeting today to assess the progress of various projects under the Jammu Smart City initiative. The meeting, attended by key officials including the CEO of Jammu Smart City Ltd, representatives from line departments, and SSP Traffic, focused on evaluating both the physical and financial progress of the ongoing works.
During the meeting, officials presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation that provided an in-depth overview of several critical projects, including those focused on smart urban mobility, the development of green spaces, beautification of market areas, disaster management at junctions, and IT infrastructure initiatives. The presentation also covered the progress made in terms of the physical infrastructure, with a clear breakdown of the financial status of each project.
Ramesh Kumar emphasized the need to assess every aspect of the development works, including their quality, current status, and the operation and maintenance of completed projects. He stressed the importance of timely completion of all ongoing works and urged the concerned executive agencies to expedite the remaining tasks. Furthermore, he directed that the funds allocated for the projects should be fully utilized, ensuring no delays in the financial aspects of the projects.
One of the key areas reviewed was the development of the Tawi riverfront, a significant project aimed at enhancing the beauty and functionality of Jammu’s riverfront. The Divisional Commissioner also evaluated several infrastructure projects that are part of the broader Jammu Smart City plan. These include the complete street development from Mubarak Mandi to Raghunath Bazar, improvements along Canal Road to Talab Tillo, and upgrades to Residency Road. Additionally, the development of a Library cum Cafeteria at Mubarak Mandi and heritage conservation and development works were discussed.
Other major projects that were reviewed include the Gummat Bazaar development, the Oceanarium at Bag-e-Bahu, the Waste to Wonder Park, and the installation of signage and wayfinding systems. The landscaping of the Maha Maya Temple complex, up-gradation of approach roads, flooring, and queue management systems in the Bahu Fort Complex, along with the development of modern e-bus stops and rotaries, were also assessed.
Ramesh Kumar reiterated the importance of completing these projects as quickly as possible, as they are crucial for enhancing Jammu’s infrastructure and ensuring the success of the Smart City initiative. He assured that any concerns raised during the meeting would be addressed promptly to ensure that the projects are completed within the set timelines and to the highest standards.
