MAY 18: In a strong reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to the welfare of border communities, Minister Javed Ahmed Rana conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing developmental activities in Rajouri district. During the visit, he placed a sharp focus on the safety and security of residents living along the Line of Control (LoC), while assessing various public infrastructure and welfare projects in the region.

Highlighting the unique challenges faced by people in border areas, Minister Rana issued clear instructions for the swift construction of individual and community bunkers to protect civilians from cross-border shelling. He underscored that safeguarding the lives of residents living near the LoC remains a top priority for the administration.

While interacting with local residents and officials, the Minister assured that the @OmarAbdullah-led government is deeply committed to addressing the pressing needs of those affected by shelling and border-related violence. He emphasized that timely assessment and disbursement of compensation to victims of cross-LoC shelling incidents will be ensured without delay.

“We are fully aware of the hardships faced by our people living in vulnerable zones. Our government is not only focused on development but also on ensuring security and justice for these communities,” Rana stated. He further directed district authorities to conduct regular monitoring of LoC villages and maintain readiness for swift response in emergencies.

During the visit, the Minister also reviewed the implementation of various public welfare schemes and infrastructure projects. He called upon the local administration to maintain momentum in delivering essential services, especially in remote and affected areas, and to strengthen public grievance redressal mechanisms.

Minister Rana also took stock of issues related to road connectivity, electricity, drinking water, healthcare, and education. He assured the public that all genuine concerns will be addressed in a time-bound and result-oriented manner.

Reiterating the government’s people-first approach, Minister Rana said that development, safety, and dignity of every citizen—especially those living in vulnerable border zones—remain the cornerstone of their governance agenda.
