JUNE 22: Minister Javed Rana conducted a comprehensive review of Muharram arrangements in the Zadibal area of Srinagar, aiming to ensure a smooth, safe, and respectful environment for the upcoming religious observances. Legislator Tanvir Sadiq accompanied him during his visit to several prominent Imambaras, where they interacted directly with caretakers, event organisers, and community members.
The minister’s visit focused on assessing the readiness of facilities and gauging the needs of devotees who will gather in large numbers during Muharram. He reviewed on-ground preparations, including sanitation, drinking water availability, lighting, medical support, and security measures to ensure that all essential services are in place.
Minister Rana emphasized the importance of providing a serene and respectful atmosphere for mourners. He instructed the concerned departments to work in close coordination to guarantee adequate arrangements, maintain cleanliness, and uphold safety standards throughout the religious period. Special focus was laid on ensuring uninterrupted power supply and smooth traffic regulation in the area during processions and gatherings.
Interacting with local community leaders and caretakers of the Imambaras, the minister expressed appreciation for their role in managing events peacefully and maintaining social harmony. He assured them of the government’s support in addressing any logistical challenges promptly.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment to religious harmony, Minister Javed Rana stated, “Muharram is a time of deep reflection and spiritual devotion. We must ensure that every participant experiences the observances in a safe and dignified environment. The government remains committed to promoting unity, mutual respect, and peace across all communities.”
Legislator Tanvir Sadiq also spoke on the occasion, highlighting the significance of inclusive governance and responsive administration, especially during important religious events. He called for collaborative efforts between civic bodies, community stakeholders, and law enforcement agencies to make the observances smooth and meaningful.
