OCT 02:The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir today inaugurated a 1×6.3 MVA 33/11 KV Receiving Station at Saloora, Ganderbal, a project constructed at a cost of ₹2.5 crore. The new facility marks a crucial step in enhancing the district’s power infrastructure and promises reliable electricity supply to thousands of households in the region.

The receiving station has been strategically developed to address long-standing issues of power fluctuation and low voltage faced by residents of Saloora and adjoining areas. With the commissioning of this project, local communities will benefit from improved voltage, reduced outages, and a stable electricity supply, enabling better living conditions and smoother functioning of businesses and institutions.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening basic infrastructure in every part of Jammu and Kashmir. She noted that access to reliable power is essential for improving the quality of life, fostering economic growth, and ensuring that schools, hospitals, and industries can function efficiently.

The ₹2.5 crore investment is part of a larger government vision to modernize the power sector in the Union Territory, focusing on both urban and rural areas. By expanding the network of receiving stations and upgrading existing infrastructure, the administration aims to ensure uninterrupted electricity, especially during peak demand seasons.

Local residents expressed gratitude for the initiative, stating that the new station will not only bring relief to households but also encourage entrepreneurship and small-scale industries in the region. Farmers and students in particular are expected to benefit, as stable electricity will support irrigation facilities, digital learning, and modern equipment usage.

The inauguration at Saloora reflects the government’s resolve to bridge gaps in essential services and promote inclusive development across districts. With this addition, Ganderbal moves closer to achieving reliable power infrastructure that supports its growing population and future aspirations.
