NOV 29:Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired an extensive review meeting to assess the progress of major reforms underway in the School Education Department of Jammu & Kashmir. The session focused on critical pillars of the education ecosystem, including learning outcomes, digital integration, human resource management, and infrastructure enhancement. These reforms aim to strengthen the foundation of government schools and ensure that quality education reaches every student across the Union Territory.
During the review, the Chief Secretary underscored the need to boost enrollment in government schools by promoting trust, transparency, and improved academic standards. He emphasised that the state must work collectively to make government schools the first choice for parents, highlighting the importance of ensuring quality teaching, adequate facilities, and child-friendly learning environments.
Dulloo also stressed enhancing the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) by enriching it with high-quality, curriculum-aligned digital content. This, he noted, would improve monitoring mechanisms, support data-driven decision-making, and help teachers adopt better pedagogical practices. Strengthening digital platforms was identified as essential for modernising the education sector and bridging learning gaps.
The Chief Secretary called on the department to actively explore Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships, especially for upgrading infrastructure, adopting schools, and enhancing student support services. He directed officials to ensure that textbooks are provided on time so that students begin the academic session without disruptions.
Expressing concern over complaints of unauthorized admission fees in certain government schools, Dulloo instructed strict enforcement measures to curb such practices. He reiterated that public education must remain fully free and accessible to every child, without any financial burden on parents.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to driving comprehensive reforms aimed at strengthening student learning, improving governance systems, and elevating the overall quality of school education in Jammu & Kashmir. The administration affirmed its resolve to build a progressive, inclusive, and technology-enabled learning ecosystem for the future generation.
