JULY 24: A group of 71 commerce students from Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, successfully concluded a 10-day Summer Internship Programme at the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), held at its Bari Brahmana campus.
This internship, aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, was designed to nurture entrepreneurial thinking, foster research aptitude, and develop teamwork capabilities among students. Over the span of 60 hours, the interns received structured training through a mix of interactive lectures, exposure visits, practical assignments, and expert-led sessions.
The program provided an overview of JKEDI’s functioning, offering students valuable insights into various entrepreneurship promotion verticals. It aimed to familiarize them with enterprise development strategies and support mechanisms available in the Union Territory for budding entrepreneurs.
As part of the curriculum, students explored topics such as startup incubation, government schemes, business model development, and startup financing. Sessions were conducted by JKEDI faculty members and external resource persons from the startup ecosystem to ensure well-rounded exposure.
The internship concluded with a valedictory ceremony where Joint Director JKEDI, Chand Kishore Sharma, attended as the Chief Guest. Congratulating the students, he praised their active participation and curiosity throughout the program. In his address, he highlighted the growing relevance of innovation, self-employment, and entrepreneurship in driving the economic future of Jammu and Kashmir.
“I am delighted to see these young students showing such dedication toward learning about entrepreneurship. Their energy and ideas hold the potential to transform the local economy,” Sharma said. He also stressed the need for more practical programs that connect academic learning with real-world enterprise opportunities.
The Joint Director also interacted directly with the interns during a feedback session. Students shared their learning experiences and appreciated the program’s practical orientation and exposure to real-world challenges in entrepreneurship.
The internship was organized under the overall guidance of the Director JKEDI and executed by the institute’s experienced faculty. JKEDI continues to host such programs regularly as part of its mission to build a vibrant entrepreneurial culture and encourage youth toward self-employment.
