JUNE 26: The 28th edition of the National Good Governance Webinar Series was held under the overarching theme of ‘Holistic Development of Districts.’ This virtual event is part of a continuing initiative launched by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), following directives from the Prime Minister to widely disseminate and replicate successful governance practices recognized through the PM’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration.

The webinar featured presentations from the District Collectors of Kupwara (Jammu & Kashmir) and Tinsukia (Assam), whose respective initiatives were recipients of the 2024 PM’s Awards under the category of holistic district development. The session served as a platform for sharing innovative governance models and was attended by over 1,000 government officials across more than 850 locations nationwide, including representatives from Line Departments, State Governments, Central and State Administrative Training Institutes, and District Administrations.

Ms. Ayushi Sudan, District Magistrate of Kupwara, and Shri Swapneel Paul, District Commissioner of Tinsukia, shared detailed presentations on their award-winning projects, offering insights into their implementation, sustainability, and potential for replication. Their work was praised for fostering inclusive development, effective service delivery, and improving socio-economic indicators at the grassroots level.

The webinar was chaired by Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary, DARPG, and witnessed participation from Additional Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, and other senior officials. These monthly webinars, initiated in April 2022, have become a cornerstone of governance reform and knowledge exchange, enhancing institutional learning across the public sector.

Each session focuses not just on showcasing success stories but also on understanding how these initiatives can be adapted to diverse regional contexts. The aim is to scale the impact of these administrative innovations and ensure they translate into tangible benefits for citizens across districts.

The 28th webinar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to good governance through collaboration, transparency, and innovation, aligning with the broader vision of transforming India’s districts into engines of sustainable development.
