MAY 13: Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah paid a compassionate visit to the District Hospital in Poonch to meet with individuals injured in the recent cross-border shelling incident that has shaken the region. The visit comes amid heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), where civilian populations have borne the brunt of shelling from across the border.

CM Abdullah spent time with several patients undergoing treatment and spoke directly with their families, offering both reassurance and a promise of swift administrative and medical support. “It was heartening to witness their courage and resilience,” he stated after the visit. “I assured them of the best possible medical care and full support from the administration.”

The Chief Minister was accompanied by senior officials from the health and district administration, who briefed him on the medical condition of the injured and the resources currently being deployed to manage the crisis. Hospital staff also shared details of the emergency response efforts, including trauma care and mobilization of critical supplies.

Omar Abdullah took the opportunity to praise the healthcare workers for their dedication, especially under such challenging and high-pressure conditions. He also instructed the hospital authorities to ensure no patient is deprived of any treatment due to financial or logistical constraints.

Beyond medical care, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for psychological counseling and longer-term rehabilitation for those traumatized by the shelling. He called on the administration to conduct a comprehensive assessment of affected areas and prioritize relief and reconstruction efforts.

The visit was a clear signal of solidarity and accountability from the government at a time when many residents feel vulnerable and displaced. Abdullah reiterated his government’s commitment to ensuring safety, relief, and recovery for all civilians affected by the LoC conflict.

The Chief Minister’s presence at the hospital was not just symbolic—it was a reaffirmatio: n of governance, compassion, and resilience in the face of adversity. As tensions persist along the border, his visit brought a measure of comfort and confidence to a community in distress.
