OCT 15:Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the much-awaited J&K Police’s Diwali Mela 2025 at Gulshan Ground, Jammu, marking the beginning of the festive celebrations with a message of patriotism, gratitude, and economic self-reliance. The event, organized annually by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, aims to promote community engagement, support local artisans, and honor the sacrifices of the force’s Bravehearts.
In his inaugural address, the Lieutenant Governor paid glowing tributes to the martyrs and serving personnel of J&K Police for their unwavering commitment to peace and public safety. He acknowledged their courage, resilience, and selfless service, describing them as the “true guardians of Jammu and Kashmir’s harmony and security.”
Highlighting the theme of this year’s mela, LG Sinha urged citizens to go ‘Vocal for Local’ and celebrate Diwali in the true spirit of self-reliance and solidarity. He appealed to people to prioritize Swadeshi, Self-Help Group (SHG), and artisan-made products, underlining that every local purchase contributes to empowering families and boosting the regional economy.
The mela featured a vibrant display of handicrafts, handlooms, traditional décor, and homemade delicacies, attracting large crowds from across Jammu. Women-led SHGs and local entrepreneurs showcased a wide range of eco-friendly and indigenous items, promoting sustainability along with festive joy.
LG Sinha also interacted with artisans, police families, and visitors, appreciating their role in preserving Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural heritage. He commended the J&K Police for combining community welfare with celebration, strengthening the bond between the force and the public.
