JUNE 02: A delegation from the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP), led by Shri Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Chairman of the Parliamentary Affairs Committee of the party, called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today to discuss several pressing matters concerning public welfare and regional development.

The delegation included prominent JKAP leaders Shri Mohd. Ashraf Mir, Shri Rafi Ahmad Mir, Shri Hilal Ahmad Shah, Shri Abdul Majeed Padder, and Shri Muntazir Mohiuddin. The leaders highlighted a wide range of issues during the meeting, with particular emphasis on the welfare of families adversely affected by unprovoked cross-border shelling from Pakistan.

Raising concerns about the continued vulnerability of civilians living near the Line of Control (LoC), the delegation urged the administration to provide enhanced relief, rehabilitation measures, and long-term security assurances for affected communities.

Tourism promotion was another significant topic brought to the table. The JKAP leaders emphasized the need for sustained government efforts to revitalize the tourism sector, which remains a vital source of livelihood for thousands in Jammu and Kashmir. They called for increased investment in infrastructure, targeted promotional campaigns, and better connectivity to key tourist destinations.

The delegation also stressed the importance of improving the disaster management mechanism in the Union Territory, citing the frequent natural disasters such as landslides, floods, and snowfall that regularly disrupt life and livelihoods in the region.

In addition, preparations for the upcoming Muharram were discussed in detail. The delegation requested the Lieutenant Governor’s support in ensuring peaceful and smooth conduct of Muharram-related events, with proper administrative and security arrangements in place.

Responding to the delegation, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha assured that the administration is committed to addressing the concerns raised during the interaction. He appreciated the delegation for their constructive suggestions and reiterated the government’s focus on public welfare and inclusive development.

“The administration will take appropriate steps to resolve the issues highlighted. We are committed to the well-being of all citizens, especially those living in vulnerable areas,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides agreeing on the need for continued dialogue and cooperation to ensure progress and peace across the Union Territory.
