OCT 1:Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, attended the Sewa Parv Celebration organized by the Housing and Urban Development Department in Jammu. Addressing the gathering, he underlined the importance of creating sustainable and people-centric cities that can meet the growing demands of urbanization while safeguarding the environment.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that urban spaces are not just centers of economic activity but also reflections of culture, lifestyle, and aspirations of the people. Therefore, it is crucial to adopt innovative planning models that integrate smart technology, green infrastructure, and sustainable practices to make cities more livable, vibrant, and resilient.
Shri Sinha emphasized the need for developing eco-friendly housing solutions, energy-efficient transport, and waste management systems that not only improve the quality of life but also mitigate the environmental challenges of rapid urbanization. He stated that the government is committed to promoting clean energy, digital governance, and citizen-centric services in order to build urban ecosystems that empower people and protect natural resources.
While speaking at the event, the Lieutenant Governor reiterated that public participation is at the core of effective urban development. He urged citizens, local bodies, and stakeholders to actively contribute towards making cities more inclusive and environmentally sustainable.
The Sewa Parv Celebration served as a platform to showcase ongoing initiatives and achievements of the Housing and Urban Development Department in transforming Jammu and Kashmir’s urban landscape. It also reaffirmed the government’s focus on balancing development with ecological preservation, ensuring that future generations inherit cities that are not only technologically advanced but also environmentally conscious.
In his concluding remarks, Shri Manoj Sinha stressed that the path to progress lies in integrated urban planning that blends modern technology with sustainable values, thereby creating urban centers that truly embody the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, aur Sabka Prayas.”
