SEP 09: In a remarkable effort to support communities affected by recent floods, the Health Department Doda has organized a series of Mega Medical Camps across the district. Spearheaded by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Om Kumar and backed by the dynamic leadership of Deputy Commissioner Doda, Syed Abid Rashid Shah, and ADC Harvinder Singh, this initiative has brought much-needed healthcare services directly to the people.
A total of eight camps were held in various flood-impacted areas, aiming to provide free medical consultations, distribute essential medicines, and raise awareness about post-flood health issues. Over 475 patients received medical attention, with a particular focus on vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and those with chronic conditions.
The camps were organized under the broader supervision of the Director of Health Services Jammu, Dr. A.H. Zargar, ensuring that qualified medical staff, necessary equipment, and medicines were made available at each location. The initiative was not only a response to the recent natural disaster but also an example of proactive healthcare outreach in remote and underserved areas.
Medical teams provided check-ups, preventive care, and counseling to help mitigate the risk of waterborne and vector-borne diseases that often follow flooding. Residents expressed relief and gratitude, emphasizing the importance of such timely interventions.
The district administration, in coordination with the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), continues to amplify awareness and ensure that affected populations are informed about available support services.
These camps have demonstrated how collaborative governance and committed public service can make a tangible difference, especially in times of crisis.
