JUNE 17: In a major step toward strengthening grassroots governance and public administration, the Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development Department (RDD), Panchayati Raj, and Cooperatives, Shri Javid Ahmad Dar, today handed over appointment letters to newly recruited Junior Assistants of the Rural Development Department.
A total of 122 Junior Assistants have been appointed across various districts of Jammu and Kashmir. These appointments were made through the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) via a transparent, merit-based selection process, in line with the government’s commitment to fairness, efficiency, and accountability in public sector recruitment.
During the official induction ceremony, Minister Dar congratulated the newly recruited candidates and extended his best wishes as they begin their careers in public service. He emphasized the importance of the Rural Development Department as the primary vehicle for implementing grassroots-level schemes and development programs. The Minister expressed confidence that the addition of these young professionals would significantly strengthen the department’s functioning, especially in remote and rural areas.
He urged the new appointees to carry out their duties with dedication, honesty, and a strong sense of public service. “You are now representatives of the government at the community level. Your efficiency and responsiveness will directly impact the lives of people. Always be accessible, transparent, and people-centric in your work,” he said.
The Minister also praised JKSSB for its fair and efficient recruitment process, which has helped channel young, educated talent into the administrative framework of Jammu and Kashmir. He added that filling long-vacant posts in essential departments like RDD is part of the broader strategy to enhance rural service delivery, reduce unemployment, and promote youth engagement in governance.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Rural Development Department, members of JKSSB, and family members of the appointees. The event marked a proud moment for the candidates and reaffirmed the government’s focus on institutional strengthening at the grassroots level.
This latest round of appointments is expected to inject new energy and capacity into rural governance structures, paving the way for faster implementation of key development initiatives.
