JUNE 17: In a focused effort to enhance power infrastructure in the Chhamb Constituency, Minister Satish Sharma chaired a high-level review meeting of the power sector. The meeting emphasized fast-tracking critical infrastructure development and improving the overall quality and reliability of electricity supply in the region.
During the review, Minister Sharma directed officials to implement immediate upgrades across the constituency. Special attention was given to the timely execution of projects under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and the Border Area Development Programme (BADP), ensuring no further delays hinder ongoing development.
A major part of the directive includes boosting voltage levels in vulnerable areas by leveraging power from the Jourian Grid, along with the planned augmentation of 50 MVA capacity at the Barn Grid station. These upgrades aim to stabilize the power supply and meet increasing demand, especially in remote and border-adjacent regions.
Taking a proactive approach toward sustainable energy, Minister Sharma emphasized the need to accelerate solar energy adoption at both household and community levels. This initiative aligns with national renewable energy goals and aims to reduce dependency on conventional power sources.
To address common grievances related to long transformer outages, the Minister instructed officials to establish a “zero-delay” protocol for transformer repairs and replacements. Ensuring round-the-clock serviceability of transformers, especially in rural belts, is expected to drastically reduce downtime and improve public satisfaction.
Minister Sharma reiterated the government’s commitment to infrastructure modernization, rural upliftment, and sustainable energy solutions, emphasizing that reliable power is the backbone of regional development.
