MAY 30: In a landmark move to enhance consumer protection and regulatory oversight in the traditional medicine sector, the Ministry of Ayush launched the Ayush Suraksha Portal on May 30, 2025. The platform was unveiled by Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, and Minister of State, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, at Ayush Bhawan, New Delhi.

Launched during a press briefing, the portal is a major stride toward promoting transparency, accountability, and safety within the Ayush ecosystem. “With the launch of the Ayush Suraksha Portal, we are empowering both citizens and professionals to actively participate in safeguarding the credibility of Ayush systems. This platform will serve as a vigilant watchtower against misleading advertisements and help ensure only safe and reliable products reach the public,” stated Shri Prataprao Jadhav.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, highlighted the portal’s importance in enhancing pharmacovigilance and regulatory convergence. “By integrating data from State Licensing Authorities, national pharmacovigilance centres, and regulatory stakeholders, the platform allows real-time monitoring and systematic analysis of misleading advertisements and adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Citizens can also directly report such cases through the portal,” he said.

The development of the Ayush Suraksha Portal aligns with the Supreme Court’s directive issued on July 30, 2024, in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 645/2022, which called for the establishment of a centralized dashboard to monitor and publish data on misleading ads and ADRs. The Ministry of Ayush has delivered on this directive well ahead of the Court’s June 2025 deadline.

The portal, created with technical support from the Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS), is integrated with the National Pharmacovigilance Program. It enables inputs from diverse stakeholders including the Ayush vertical under CDSCO, MoI&B, CCPA, NCISM, NCH, PCI, FSSAI, and State Licensing Authorities. A pre-launch training session for nodal officers was held on April 9, 2025, under the chairmanship of Dr. Kousthubha Upadhyaya, Adviser (Ayu.), Ministry of Ayush.

With its user-friendly interface, the Ayush Suraksha Portal provides a centralised dashboard for real-time tracking, swift action, and data-driven governance. This digital initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to public health, responsible regulation, and maintaining the trust of millions who rely on India’s traditional medical systems.
