AUG 15: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today paid solemn tributes to the martyrs at the Balidan Stambh in Srinagar, reaffirming the government’s steadfast respect for those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. In an emotionally charged ceremony, the Chief Minister laid a wreath at the historic memorial and bowed his head in silent prayer to honour the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard India’s unity and sovereignty.

As the bugles sounded and the national flag fluttered in the background, Omar Abdullah joined officers and dignitaries in observing a moment of silence, with floral petals gently spread across the memorial as a mark of remembrance. The ceremony reflected deep gratitude and respect for the valor of the security forces and brave citizens who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Director General of Police J&K, Nalin Prabhat, was present and paid his respects alongside the Chief Minister. The gathering also included the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, ADGP Headquarters, senior officials from the civil and police administration, and a large number of uniformed personnel from various forces. Many officers could be seen paying floral tributes at the memorial, emphasizing their continued commitment to preserving peace and security in the region.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, officials reiterated the government’s determination to ensure that the sacrifices of the martyrs will always be remembered and honoured with sincerity. They added that such commemorations serve as a reminder of the unwavering courage displayed by the nation’s heroes and inspire citizens to uphold the ideals of unity, sacrifice and patriotism.
