MAY 27: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, officially flagged off the ‘Physics Bharat Yatra’ from Udhampur, marking the beginning of an ambitious nationwide campaign aimed at transforming the way science is taught and experienced in schools. The initiative is being led by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and National Anveshika Network of India (NANI) under the visionary leadership of renowned physicist Dr. H.C. Verma.

Addressing the gathering, LG Manoj Sinha praised the initiative as a remarkable step toward instilling a love for science among young learners. “This excellent initiative,” he said, “is designed to ignite curiosity, creativity, and a scientific temper among students. It reflects the true spirit of education—learning by doing and discovering.”

The Physics Bharat Yatra is envisioned as a pan-India journey that will cover every district of the country, aiming to bring a consistent and engaging science learning experience to students from diverse backgrounds. At its core, the Yatra seeks to revive the excitement of learning physics through hands-on experiments and real-world applications.

During the Yatra, teams of educators and science communicators will travel across regions to engage with students, teachers, and educational institutions. Through interactive demonstrations, live experiments, and motivational sessions, the campaign intends to build a stronger foundation in experimental science education.

The campaign is also expected to create a dynamic network of schools, educators, and science enthusiasts who will collaborate and exchange ideas to make science education more relevant, inclusive, and enjoyable. Special emphasis will be placed on remote and underserved areas to ensure equitable access to quality science education.

Dr. H.C. Verma, the driving force behind the initiative, emphasized that the Yatra is not just a journey but a movement to transform science classrooms into vibrant learning spaces. “Our goal is to inspire students to think, question, and experiment, which is the essence of true scientific learning,” he stated.

The launch event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and local officials, signaling strong grassroots support for the initiative. As the Physics Bharat Yatra embarks on its nationwide path, it carries the collective hope of building a scientifically literate and curious generation.
