19 June: RAIRANGPUR (ODISHA): The scheduled arrival of President Droupadi Murmu in Rairangpur was delayed due to adverse weather conditions, officials said on Thursday. The change in schedule was made as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the President’s travel arrangements.
According to officials, unfavorable weather conditions affected flight operations in the region, prompting authorities to revise the President’s itinerary. Necessary arrangements were made to accommodate the delay while ensuring that all security and logistical protocols remained in place.
President Murmu was scheduled to visit Rairangpur, a town in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district that holds special significance as her hometown. The visit had generated considerable enthusiasm among local residents, community leaders, and officials who were preparing to welcome the President.
Authorities stated that weather conditions are being closely monitored and the revised travel schedule will be implemented once conditions become suitable for safe movement. Officials emphasized that safety remains the top priority in all VVIP travel operations.
Despite the delay, preparations for the President’s visit continued across the town. Security personnel, district administration officials, and event organizers remained on standby to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme once the President arrives.
Residents of Rairangpur expressed excitement about the visit, viewing it as a matter of pride for the region. The town has gained national recognition since Droupadi Murmu assumed the highest constitutional office in the country.
Weather-related disruptions occasionally affect air travel, particularly during periods of changing climatic conditions. Aviation authorities routinely assess visibility, wind conditions, and other safety parameters before permitting aircraft operations.
Officials noted that such precautionary measures are standard practice and are intended to ensure the safety of passengers, crew members, and dignitaries. They urged the public not to speculate about the revised schedule and to rely on official updates.
The President’s visit is expected to include interactions with local communities and participation in scheduled programmes in the region. Authorities are coordinating closely with various agencies to ensure that the engagements proceed smoothly once weather conditions improve.
Local administration officials reiterated that all necessary arrangements remain in place and that the delay will not affect the overall objectives of the visit. Security and emergency response teams have also been deployed as part of standard protocol.
As weather conditions continue to be monitored, residents and well-wishers remain hopeful that the President will soon be able to proceed with her planned engagements in Rairangpur.
The temporary delay highlights the importance of prioritizing safety in official travel while ensuring that public programmes are conducted efficiently and securely.
